British Land has secured Gordon Ramsay’s first Bread Street Café concept as a tenant at Ealing Broadway in west London, as well as six retail and leisure brand openings.
The 3,300 sq ft restaurant is the latest opening in a significant expansion drive for the chef’s restaurant brands. Last year the group outlined plans to open up to 50 new sites in the UK by 2025.
Separately, dining and bar operator Loungers has agreed a deal for a 3,500 sq ft unit for its Castano Lounge concept, a family-friendly restaurant and bar.
Aesthetic medical treatment provider Thérapie Clinic will open a 2,200 sq ft unit.
These follow a raft of independent lettings at the location, including The Curated Collective, which has opened a 1,500 sq ft store at 10-40 The Broadway.
Paradise Cakes Shop and Cooking School has opened a 3,100 sq ft space, while womenswear boutique Vintage Noir Clothing has launched a 2,500 sq ft store. Artist’s collective 1of1 Design has opened a pop-up gallery.
Tim Haddon, head of asset management of Ealing Broadway and standalone portfolio at British Land, said: “It’s great to see the diverse range of brands, many of them choosing the centre for their first UK store, that are signing up for space and growing the exceptional experience we aim to provide.
“We want Ealing Broadway to be the retail and leisure destination of choice for the local community, and these latest lettings will enhance our offering for visitors.”
Andy Wenlock, chief executive of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, said: “For the team at Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, it’s great to be opening the doors of a new restaurant, bringing people together.”
Hux Norman, property and acquisitions manager for Loungers UK, said: “Ealing has been a target location for us for a number of years, as we feel our all-day offer and community focus will go down well in Ealing.”
The news comes after Amazon Fresh opened its first UK store at Ealing Broadway earlier this year. The Really Local Group, a cultural and high street regeneration-focused local developer, seeks to open a 15,200 sq ft, independent, three-screen cinema and mixed-use community arts venue in early 2022.
British Land’s development plans for the location over the long-term include more than 460,000 sq ft of office and mixed-use space.
