British Land chief executive Stephen Hester’s total salary package rose to £1.8m in the year to 31 March 2008, up from £1.76m in 2007.
His remuneration package included an £820,000 salary and £950,000 bonus.
The figures were revealed in the company’s annual report and accounts.
On 22nd February, Hester was appointed as non-executive deputy chairman of Northern Rock, however his salary for this role has not yet been finalised. British Land said this will be disclosed in next year’s Remuneration Report.
The next highest paid British Land employee was head of retail Andrew Jones, who received a total salary package of £735,000.
In his chairman’s statement, Chris Gibson-Smith said the year ahead would be challenging.
“It’s a time for cool heads, long-term clarity, a robust business model and business as usual for our management team, focused on customers and striving to outperform,” he said.
