British Land has submitted plans for the redevelopment of land surrounding its Meadowhall Shopping Centre as a £300m mixed-use scheme.
The company wants to develop the site, located to the south and east of Meadowhall, as 1,300 homes, 1.2m sq ft of offices, a hotel, serviced apartments, a neighbourhood centre and leisure facilities.
British Land has been in consultation with Sheffield council for the past five years over its River Don district master plan.
Director Rob Samuel said: “After a comprehensive public consultation exercise, we feel we have a master plan scheme of which Sheffield can feel rightly proud.
“In line with the previously agreed objectives, it is British Land’s wish to create a new ‘gateway’ project for the city.”
