British Land has welcomed the retail experience of its latest non-executive director, a former director of supermarket group J Sainsbury.
Irvinder Goodhew will take her non-exec post at British Land in October. She is currently a transformation director at Lloyds Banking Group, and before that worked at companies including J Sainsbury, Australian retailer Coles Group, management consultancy AT Kearney and computer group IBM.
At J Sainsbury, according to her LinkedIn profile, her roles included director of business development and director of business transformation.
British Land chairman Tim Score said Goodhew “will bring a wealth of relevant experience and expertise gained across various sectors, in particular retail, and will add a valuable perspective to complement and enhance our existing board”.
The REIT also announced that William Jackson, the board’s senior independent director and managing director of private equity firm Bridgepoint, will remain on the board for up to a year after he leaves his senior independent post at the 2020 AGM.
Score added: “Given the current unprecedented challenges faced by our business, like many others, as a result of Covid-19, [Jackson’s] experience and expertise will continue to be of huge value to our board and the broader British Land business.”
