British Land is tweaking parts of the design of its upcoming scheme at 1-2 Broadgate, EC2, to meet new requirements from law firm Allen & Overy, which will make the building its headquarters.
Although changes to the overall plans are relatively small, the amendments underline developers’ eagerness to work with tenants to ensure their post-pandemic offices give them exactly what they need from new space.
Allen & Overy is taking 254,000 sq ft of space across levels one to six of the building under a prelet deal agreed last year.
In new planning documents, British Land said changes to the approved plans will involve removing double-height spaces in the façade on levels one and two, which were initially intended for retail display. Those floors will now be used by Allen & Overy as offices.
Other amendments include increasing the number of cycle spaces in the basement and extending the east office entrance on the ground floor.
