British Steel picks Wilson Bowden to develop the Bromford Gate site

Leicester-based developer Wilson Bowden has been chosen to build out British Steel’s Bromford Gate site in Birmingham, beating off competition from St Modwen and Gazeley.

Wilson Bowden is thought to have bid around £5m for the joint venture project with British Steel. The partnership will construct up to 37,160 sq m (400,000 sq ft) of office and industrial space on the 9.3 ha (23 acre) site next to the Heartlands spine road.

Work is expected to begin early next year. Birmingham Heartlands Development Corporation is funding the site’s infrastructure.

DTZ Debenham Thorpe advised the vendor while Hillier Parker acted for Wilson Bowden.
