Associated British Foods has been granted consent to convert the former British Sugar factory in York into 1,100 new flats.
The outline consent for the 98-acre site follows a public inquiry at the start of the year. ABF was granted consent on the basis of a 3% minimum affordable housing level, owing to remediation costs.
Additional affordable housing is to be provided based on a viability reassessment process to be undertaken at each subsequent phase of development.
Rapleys advised ABF on planning.
