Britishvolt buyer sued for unpaid rent

Britishvolt buyer David Collard is apparently late on his rent as well as the final instalment for the UK gigafactory site.

Last week, it emerged that Collard’s Scale Facilitation and its subsidiary, Recharge Industries, had failed to pay the final instalment of the £8.57m it owes for Britishvolt.

Now it turns out that Collard’s firm is being sued by its landlord in New York.

Scale has space on the 88th floor of the One World Trade Center tower, and court filings have revealed Hyper Labs, the landlord of the floor, believes it has been in default on its rent since May. Despite having its contract cancelled, Scale has not surrendered the premises, documents claimed in June. Hyper Labs is seeking $455,000 (£359,000).

Meanwhile, Collard is also being chased by the landlord of his Midtown apartment for $150,000 in unpaid rent. The filings were first reported by The Australian newspaper.
