Britain’s love of a cheeky Nando’s has helped push sales past £1bn.
The Peri-Peri chicken shop has restaurants in 35 countries and reported an 8.4% rise in annual worldwide sales, excluding South Africa, to £1.1bn.
The UK market accounts for £779.4m, a 7.9% increase, with UK pre-tax profits rising 15% to £96m. Worldwide the company suffered a loss of £38.3m, largely due to expansion.
Nando’s is planning 31 new restaurants in the UK by the end of the financial year, bringing its portfolio to 422.
