Brookfield confirms City spec start

100-Bishopsgate-CGI-THUMB.jpegBrookfield has confirmed it will start work on its 900,000 sq ft City tower 100 Bishopsgate, EC2, without a pre-let.

The speculative start comes after a buoyant period for the North American giant, which has let well over 1m sq ft across the Hammerson London office portfolio it acquired in 2012.

Brookfield bought out Great Portland Estates’ remaining 12.5% stake in the development last year in order to gain full control over any decision to green light the project.

The decision to build out speculatively will give Brookfield a head start over rival tower scheme 22 Bishopsgate, EC2, formerly known as the Pinnacle, revised plans for which are expected to be submitted to the City of London Corporation shortly.

GM Real Estate and Knight Frank are letting agents on the building.
