Brookfield promotes Kirkman

Brookfield Asset Management and Investment Corporation of Dubai has appointed Brookfield Property Group’s senior vice president Douglas Kirkman as CEO of ICD-Brookfield Management.


ICD-Brookfield Management is to be the manager of the ICD-Brookfield Dubai Real Estate Fund, which is at the formation stage and will be jointly owned by Brookfield Asset Management and Investment Corporation of Dubai.


Prior to joining Brookfield, Kirkman, who will be based in Dubai, worked for the Blackstone Group, helping to establish that company’s Indian real estate business. He also led Blackstone’s entry into Turkey.


ICD-Brookfield Dubai Real Estate Fund will, once formed, focus on property in Dubai with an emphasis on development.


The Investment Corporation of Dubai is the investment arm of the government of Dubai and holds stakes in more than 30 companies, including Emaar Properties, developer of the world’s largest mall and tallest tower, and Emirates Airlines.


Brookfield Asset Management is a global alternative asset manager with AUM of $175bn (€133.7m) and is co-listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges.
