Brookfield’s 1 Moor Lane retrofit plans approved

Brookfield Properties has secured planning permission for an office development at 1 Moor Lane, EC1, which would roughly double the office space onsite to 300,000 sq ft.

The Allford Hall Monaghan Morris-designed proposals will see the 1980s office building, formerly known as Milton Gate, retrofitted and extended, while retaining 70% of the existing structure.

The approved plans also provide for 8,159 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor of the building, as well as improved public realm.

The building will be all-electric and net zero in operation, with the expectation that it will achieve EPC A, BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 5* certifications once complete.

Dan Scanlon, president of Brookfield Properties UK, said: “We appreciate the support and positive feedback from the City of London and neighbouring occupiers who have shaped our proposals for 1 Moor Lane, and thank the team for their efforts in reaching this important milestone.”

The consent will add to the Brookfield’s development pipeline in the City, taking its volume of approved space to 1.3m sq ft following the recent approval of the 54-storey tower at 99 Bishopsgate, EC2.
