Brookgate plans 1.5m sq ft Cambridge quarter

Cambridge developer Brookgate is developing plans for a 1.5m sq ft mixed-use scheme in Chesterton, a north-eastern suburb of the city.

Brookgate will work in partnership with Network Rail, DB Schenker Rail, Cambridge county council, Cambridge city council and South Cambridgeshire district council on the development, which will be named Cambridge Park, CB4.

The site will be adjacent to a new railway station that is due for completion in 2016.

Cambridge Park CB4 will be Brookgate’s second major development project in Cambridge, following on from the CB1 masterplan, which includes offices, retail, residential and a hotel in the area around the existing station.

Sven Topel, chief executive of Brookgate, said: “By building a high-density development on such a large brownfield site, we are also ensuring there is less pressure on the local green belt as the city continues to expand.”

Bidwells and JLL are advising Brookgate on the scheme.
