Brookgate wins Cambridge consent

Brookgate has won planning consent to redevelop Station Square in Cambridge as part of its CB1 masterplan.

The plans will see the area around the Cambridge Station pedestrianised, with a bus-only connection between Station Road and the new Bus Interchange, and a drop-off and pick-up area for 21 taxis.

CB1 is a 25-acre development that includes offices, hotels, retail and leisure. The developer won planning consent on the fourth attempt in November for a 133,000 sq ft office-led development at 50-60 Station Road.

A spokesperson said: “Receiving planning permission for our proposals is a significant step forward for CB1. Station Square will create a gateway for Cambridge, significantly improving the area around the train station and making a real difference for local residents, visitors and commuters alike, while the Northern Access Road will facilitate the delivery of a number of the public benefits of the CB1 masterplan.”
