Gordon Brown has announced a £315m economic package of measuresaimed at stimulating investment in Northern Ireland.
The Chancellor is giving small and medium-sized companies 100%capital allowances for investment. There will also be a ¥ fund as well as £65m allocated for employment andtraining. About £100m will be spent on road projects includingimprovements to the links to Belfast.
The fund will also back a separate £21m innovation and tourismbudget. Mr Brown announced that this would put £10m into a newscience park. The government is also considering plans for a £15mventure capital fund for Northern Ireland in conjunction with theEuropean Investment Bank.
