Bruntwood SciTech appoints director of life sciences

Bruntwood SciTech has named Kath Mackay as its director of life sciences.

The managing director of its Alderley Park site in Cheshire will take on the new role as the business adapts to take advantage of opportunities in the growing sector.

She will be tasked with developing Bruntwood SciTech’s life sciences vision and strategy, supporting its expansion across the UK and championing innovation and investment in high-value sector R&D. Mackay will also continue to run Alderly Park, itself the largest single-site life science campus in the UK.

Mackay said: “Ensuring the UK is the best place to establish and scale a life science organisation has long been a priority of mine. By facilitating innovation at a regional, national and international level, and providing the specialist facilities and ecosystems for that to happen, we are ensuring the UK life sciences sector continues to punch above its weight when it comes to creating jobs and GVA and I look forward to taking on this fantastic opportunity and challenge.”

Mackay joined the Bruntwood/L&G joint venture in 2019 from the executive board of Innovate UK.

Bruntwood SciTech has a portfolio of more than 2.4m sq ft, valued at more than £600m.
