Property platform Bruntwood SciTech is to transform its Cornerblock innovation hub in Birmingham into a “forward-thinking workspace”.
The 112,346 sq ft building’s communal spaces will be refurbished to provide new and improved areas for customers to collaborate and connect. Proposals also include a new reception area, concierge facilities, new break-out areas and informal meeting spaces.
In addition, the building’s wellbeing facilities will be enhanced through the addition of a new studio and cardio gym, secure bike store with maintenance stations and refurbished changing rooms.
The works, being delivered by Estilo, are due to commence in February and be completed in April.
Cornerblock is situated in the Colmore Business District, which serves as a home to companies such as video game developer Facepunch Studios, consultancy Arcadis and law firm Mills & Reeve.
Rob Valentine, regional director for the West Midlands at Bruntwood SciTech, said: “Cornerblock has the benefit of being situated at the heart of Birmingham’s important central business district, ideally positioning it to attract global, market-leading companies.
“Businesses also have the opportunity to connect into Bruntwood SciTech’s ecosystem of science and technology businesses that are at the forefront of many of today’s innovations, both at our other Birmingham locations – such as Innovation Birmingham, Birmingham Health Innovation Campus and the Cornwall Buildings – and across the UK.”
The move coincides with the appointment of a new senior asset manager to the locally based team.
Moe Ali joins from Oval Real Estate, where he spent the past three years as an asset manager for the Digbeth Estate, while he also has experience working across Birmingham’s central business district in his previous role as a management surveyor at Colliers.
At Bruntwood SciTech, Ali will be responsible for driving the firm’s programme of transformations across its portfolio in Birmingham as it moves at pace and scale with its commitments to provide innovation space.
Bruntwood SciTech is a joint venture between Bruntwood, Legal & General and Greater Manchester Pension Fund.
