Bruntwood SciTech scoops £210m dev partner role

Bruntwood SciTech has clinched the role of development partner for the University of Birmingham’s £210m Birmingham Health Innovation Campus.

Bruntwood SciTech, a joint venture between Bruntwood and Legal & General, will develop a 657,000 sq ft of lab, office and incubation hub space over 10 years.

The first phase of the development will see a six-storey, 133,000 sq ft building built, which will be home to BHP’s Precision Health Technologies Accelerator, Birmingham Precision Medicine Centre and Healthcare Technologies Innovation Hub.

The first phase will be complete in 2023.

Dr David Hardman, managing director, Bruntwood SciTech Birmingham, said: “This is a huge opportunity for the UK’s life science sector.

“By creating an environment that will not only help businesses to form, scale, collaborate and grow, we will establish a new thriving life sciences hub, which will create much needed capacity for the West Midlands and help to attract further international investment to the region and beyond.”
