Bruntwood secures two for Manchester Portland St

Bruntwood Estates has secured two office lettings at its flagship 1 Portland Street scheme in central Manchester.

E-Office has taken 9,000 sq ft at the development on a 15-year lease at £19.50 per sq ft.

The Portuguese Consulate has also signed for 4,800 sq ft on the second floor of the building on undisclosed terms.

Costa Coffee and Diageo have already taken space in the ground floor retail units.

The 61,000 sq ft building, on the corner of Portland Street and Piccadilly, has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, which was completed last autumn.

It was formerly occupied by BT.

A letting to MWB Business Exchange, which was reported last November, has not yet been secured and the serviced offices provider is rumoured to be considering other options.

Ian Steele, partner at GVA Grimley, which is letting agent on the scheme, said: “The scheme demonstrates Bruntwood’s continued commitment to speculative development and as one of the catalysts for the regeneration of the area.”

Lambert Smith Hampton is joint letting agent.
