Bruntwood has partnered with Select Property Group for the residential element of its £750m development at The Corridor Innovation District, Manchester.
The masterplan for the former BBC North site, which Bruntwood purchased for £30m in March, was approved by Manchester city council in April and includes 1.2m sq ft of offices as well as the four residential blocks that Bruntwood will develop with Select.
The four blocks will comprise 650 flats and two serviced apartments which will be mostly occupied by international students.
In total the development will cover 1.8m sq ft of Manchester city centre and will include the Sir Henry Royce Institute, a 400,000 sq ft research and technology centre that will link up with the Manchester Technology Centre, also owned by Bruntwood.
The balance of the site will offer 823,000 sq ft of commercial space. Work is expected to begin in 2016.
