BSkyB is closing in on a site ?for its 60,000 sq ft Leeds requirement.
The broadcaster has been looking for space in the city since early 2013 as part of a consolidation programme involving a number of functions in Leeds and a Sky Bet site in Harrogate.
Sky has whittled down a long list to just two sites, Commercial Development Projects’ 69,000 sq ft 6 Queen Street scheme and MEPC’s 90,000 sq ft 6 Wellington Place.
Local agents have tipped 6 Wellington Place, which is due to go to planning next week, as favourite, due to Sky’s existing 20,000 sq ft presence a 2 Wellington Place.
Sky is also understood to have considered taking space at Highcross’s Broad Gate, before Yorkshire Building Society signed a 25-year lease for 76,500 sq ft at the property.
Sources said the Sky board was meeting this week to discuss the possible move.
A spokesman for the broadcaster said: “As a growing business, we are continually looking at our property portfolio to ensure that we provide great working environments in the most appropriate locations.”
Cushman & Wakefield advises Sky; Jones Lang LaSalle is acting for MEPC and is joint agent with Carter Trowler on Queen Street.
