BT has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to advise on the sale options for its London headquarters at 81 Newgate Street, EC1.
It follows BT’s announcement earlier this year that it plans to downsize and shift its head office to a smaller, more modern building.
The 300,000 sq ft BT Centre sits on a 1.5-acre freehold island next to St Paul’s Cathedral. It was built specifically for the company in 1985.
BT has hit a rocky period recently, announcing last month that its chief executive Gavin Patterson is to step down later this year once a successor has been chosen, following an outcry after the company announced plans to cut 13,000 jobs over the next three years and reduce costs by £1.5bn.
Earlier this month BT also faced a shareholder revolt over remuneration plans for its directors.
