BT confirms Four New Bailey as Manchester hub

BT has confirmed English Cities Fund’s Four New Bailey will be its new Manchester hub.

The telecommunications giant will move its circa 2,000 colleagues into the 12-storey office in 2023 and will eventually take up the whole of the 293,000 sq ft building.

Graeme Paton, BT’s managing director of property & facilities services, said: “Our new buildings will bring our people together in an impressive and modern environment, transforming the way we work.

“Excitingly, they will become strategic locations for BT in the UK with a considerable increase in the number of colleagues based in this city.

EG reported last year that BT had lined up development, located in ECF’s wider £650m New Bailey masterplan, to be its new home.

ECF, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England, beat off competition including Ask Real Estate’s First Street scheme, as well as its 100 and 101 Embankment development, MEPC’s 4 Angel Square and Bruntwood SciTech’s Circle Square.

BT is on a mission to slash its nationwide office stock by 90% in the largest ever office consolidation programme to be undertaken in the UK.
