BTR platform Start Living aims to exceed 2,500-home target

Start Living is set to exceed its 2,500 homes target, provided suitable locations can be sourced that match its criteria.

The £500m BTR platform was launched in August last year through the partnership of Gatehouse Bank and TPG Real Estate Partners.

The initial target for the portfolio is 2,500 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes in areas that provide family amenities such as schools and leisure facilities. The first homes were constructed at Lakeside North in Scunthorpe, with three further sites acquired in the West Midlands and Nottinghamshire. Countryside and Vistry are developing the first four locations, comprising 321 homes.

Paul Stockwell, chief commercial officer at Gatehouse Bank, said: “Our ambitions for the platform demonstrate the scale of the opportunity – there is significant demand for high-quality, professionally managed rental homes, and in helping to meet this need Start Living will become a single-family BTR platform, providing the amenities and flexibility demanded by modern family life.”
