Housebuilders have almost doubled the number of new homes they are developing in flood zones in the past year, despite being warned they are endangering property and lives.
Inquiries by The Times reveal that the number of homes being developed in areas under threat has risen from 13,700 to 22,800, about one sixth of all house building.
