Buildings need to be designed to prevent overheating, Lord Krebs said in a report by the committee on climate change.

Krebs expressed disappointment that building regulations had not been updated to reflect previous warnings by the committee.

Moderns homes are designed to stay warm in winter rather than be cool in summer, the committee said. Shading is not costly or difficult to install, it is just that we are not doing it, Krebs noted.
