Builds Bio+, a US life sciences membership organisation, is setting up a division in the UK with 10 founding members.
Builds Bio+ was established to foster collaboration between the private sector, government and academia to address the growing need for commercial laboratories.
The key founding members of the UK Builds Bio+ division include University College London, SC1 London, Mace Construct, Aecom, Galileo Labs, Macfarlanes, Linesight, Merrick & Co, Precis Advisory and PLP Architecture.
The partners will focus on the development of infrastructure and specialised real estate. This focus aligns with the shift towards a new real estate market dedicated to supporting life sciences work, ensuring that researchers and companies have the environments they need to innovate and succeed.
Builds Bio+ invites all stakeholders in the life sciences and real estate sectors to join the community.
Nancy Kelley, founding member of Builds Bio+, said: “Builds Bio+ aims to unify the entire life sciences ecosystem in the markets we serve. Expanding to London/UK, a leading hub of life sciences innovation with many similarities to New York, elevates our mission further, fostering transatlantic collaborations that could redefine the possibilities of what we can achieve together in the life sciences.”
Bennett John, senior capital investment officer for real estate at the UK’s department for business and trade North America, said: “I am delighted that Builds Bio+ is deepening its partnership with the UK by opening its first overseas chapter in London. The organisation has already helped foster relationships between its US members and some of the UK’s life sciences ecosystem. I look forward to continuing to work with Builds Bio+ to promote even more transatlantic collaboration and innovation in the industry.”
