Bungalows commanding a premium

High demand for bungalows combined with a shortage of the properties means the average bungalow now commands a 16% price premium.

An average three-bedroom bungalow in the north east of the country is 62 percentage points more expensive than a three-bedroom property spread over more than one level, figures from Rightmove show.

Figures from the National House Building Council show that the number of bungalows being built has fallen to one in 63 from one in six in the 1980s.
