Solicitor Burges Salmon is expanding its headquarter operations in Bristol and taking over 929 sq m (10,000 sq ft) of additional expansion space in the city centre.
The law firm – which is already based in 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) in Standard Life’s Narrow Quay House in the city centre – is thought to be expanding into the nearby Broad Quay House on Marsh Street.
Burges Salmon has put the remaining whole floor of 975 sq m (10,500 sq ft) available in the building into solicitors’ hands and is believed to have agreed a lease of over ten years on the accommodation.
However, possibilities for further expansion into Broad Quay House are limited. The landlord, which is also Standard Life, has only 325 sq m (3,500 sq ft) of vacant space in the building following a recent deal with chartered surveyor Weatherall Green & Smith. Also, serviced-office centre operator Regus has put two floors under offer.
Any thoughts of a possible relocation to a larger building by Burges Salmon – part of the Norton Rose M5 Group – will depend upon the disposal of its current lease on Narrow Quay House, Narrow Quay, which has some 12 years left to run.
King Sturge & Co, which is advising Standard Life, is quoting around (£16.50 per sq ft) for the remaining 325 sq m (3,500 sq ft) of space in Broad Quay House.
Hartnell Taylor Cook is advising Burges Salmon.
