Fewer companies expect to increase their staffing levels over the next three months compared to before the Brexit vote.
The percentage of companies expecting to recruit more staff in a survey of over 600 companies by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development fell to 36% from 40%.
The pessimism is echoed in research by Grant Thornton, with 49% of those surveyed less confident about the coming year.
