Bute House could be sold by National Trust for Scotland

The official residence of Scotland’s first minister could be sold by the National Trust for Scotland.

Bosses at the conservation body are considering selling off “non-heritage” properties to raise funds, after losing £28m to the pandemic.

Bute House, in Edinburgh’s Charlotte Square, currently raises £70,000 a year in rent for the charity but is among those that will be immediately reviewed.

Heritage Scotland has a portfolio of around 360 residential and commercial properties which it rents out, as well as around 60 holiday homes.
