Plans for the first phase in a redevelopment of the former BBC North HQ in Manchester will be submitted shortly, as a trio of potential purchasers circle the site.
Phase one of the project – to be rebranded Oxford Square – will include 150,000 sq ft of offices and 350 homes.
Yousef Tishbi’s Realty Estates bought the 5.4-acre site on Oxford Road for £10.3m in 2011. Talks are taking place with three parties – including a Chinese developer – to form a joint venture on the scheme or to sell it for nearly £30m.
New Broadcasting House has now been demolished to make way for a 1.5m sq ft masterplan, including a 24-storey tower. Savills, Cheetham & Mortimer and WHR’s Peter Skelton are advising.
