Bye-di-bye campers as Bourne prepares to sell Butlin’s

The owner of Butlin’s is weighing a sale of the holiday camp chain less than a year after acquiring its parent company.

Bourne Leisure, which also owns Haven Holidays and adult-only Warner Leisure Hotels, has appointed investment bank Rothschild to explore a potential disposal.

Blackstone acquired a majority stake in Bourne in January, which valued the group at around £3bn and left the founding Cook, Allen and Harris families with a significant minority stake in the group. It is believed Butlin’s could command a price tag of between £200m and £250m.

Only three Butlin’s holiday camps now remain open, including its first site in Skegness.
