Bywater moves into resi with head of living hire

Bywater Properties has appointed Harry Daws as its head of living, as the timber specialist plans a strategic move into the residential sector this year.

Daws was previously the investment director at Scape, prior to which he was an associate director at Gravis, and an assistant manager, energy and resources at Deloitte.

As head of living, Daws will help the company shape its residential investment strategy, including its entrance into single and multifamily to rent and student accommodation as initial areas of interest.

Bywater is growing its team after embarking on a long-term partnership with Sumitomo Forestry, a global, end-to-end timber construction specialist, in 2023.

The two companies are working together to invest in timber-led, retrofit and new-build commercial schemes across the UK, with a focus on design quality.

Bywater chief operation officer Theo Michell said: “Our decision to appoint a new head of living marks a moment of evolution for Bywater, as we look to diversify our portfolio of sustainable assets across the UK.”
