C&J Clark pulls out of factory outlet centres

C&J Clark is pulling out of factory outlet centres to concentrate on its core businesses of shoe manufacturing and retailing.

The company, who developed the discount factory shopping concept in the UK, decided to rationalise in July this year. Clarks do not intend to lose total control of these operations.

The two centres at Clarks Village, in Street, Somerset, and in Kendal, Cumbria, had a turnover last year of &\163;34m and have a total floor space of 115,000 sq ft (10,684 m2) between them.
