C&J Clark to spin off factory shops

Privately owned shoe manufacturer C&J Clark plans to spin off itsfast-growing factory outlet operations in Street, Somerset, and Kendal, Cumbria. Coopers & Lybrand is advising on a full or partial disposal, which could be worth up to £50 million.

Possible bidders include RAM-Eurocentres, which owns half a joint venture factory shop with Clarks in Doncaster, BAA-McArthur Glen, Freeport Leisure and Value Retail.
