C&W poaches JLL’s James Beckham

A well-known JLL City-based director of capital markets is leaving the company after 18 years to join Cushman & Wakefield.

James Beckham has been appointed as a partner to lead Cushman & Wakefield’s London capital markets practice.

He will work closely with Cushman & Wakefield’s UK chief executive and head of London markets Digby Flower and head of city of London capital markets James Crawford.

Beckham will leave his role at JLL as director of capital markets. He has been with the company for 18 years, having joined King Sturge’s City investment team in 1996.

His recent deals include the £472m sale of Ropemaker Place, EC2, for British Land.

Flower said: “James Beckham is without doubt one of the most respected investment agents in the market. He has an enviable track record in being involved in some of the largest transactions which have come onto the market in recent years and is extremely well positioned to spearhead the continued growth of our London capital markets business.”

Chris Ireland, lead director UK capital markets at JLL, said: “James has been a valued member of our firm for many years and played a key role building our established City investment team since he joined 18 years ago. We would like to thank James for his contribution to the firm and we wish him well for the future.”
