The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has criticised the government for making no clear link between good design and the planning system in that planning green paper.
The government’s architecture watchdog said that, while it welcomed many of the green paper’s recommendations, it was disappointed by the “lack of an explicit link between quality of design of buildings and the grant of permission”. CABE said it planned to argue for the matter to be addressed before the paper becomes legislation.
