Cabinet rift over solar panels on buildings

The prime minister is on a collision course with the business secretary over plans to put more solar panels on buildings.

However, business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg says he does want to loosen regulations to allow businesses to put solar panels on their buildings and free up more agricultural land for solar arrays.

The claim is a stark contrast to the prime minister, Liz Truss, who wants to ban solar from 58% of agricultural land.

Meanwhile, Labour has vowed to treble solar power during its first term in office.
