Cabot Square launches £200m alternative fund

A British private equity group is hoping to raise £200m for a new investment trust targeting social and renewable infrastructure and property.

Cabot Square Capital is preparing to list Cabot Square Alternatives on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

The trust has identified a £500m pipeline of assets, with plans to invest in schools, affordable housing, care homes, electric vehicle charging points and solar parks. It will also invest directly in specialist alternative asset managers.

Cabot Square Capital was founded in 1996 and has £760m of assets under management. It is targeting a total annual return of between 8% and 10%, and stock will be offered at an issue price of £1 per share. The float closes on February 12.
