Caledonian Land marries Babcock Park with Glasgow Airport

MEPC’s Scottish subsidiary, Caledonian Land, has lodged plans for a £40m development of Babcock Park west of Glasgow.

The plans include 45,000 sq m (500,000 sq ft) of industrial shed space in 12 units, which will be built to demand or speculatively. Already 140,000 sq m (1.5m sq ft) of space is provided on the 52ha (130 acres) estate at Renfrew. Existing tenants include Mitsui Babcock, Arriva and Foxteq.

A proposed £1.2m road bridge will link the estate with the Glasgow airport perimeter road, effectively making the scheme an extension of the airport.

Keith Pringle, managing director of Caledonian Land, said: “If planners agree, the bridge will be constructed which will lead to the redevelopment of a major brownfield site and double the on-site space available to businesses. The town, in effect, will become part of Glasgow airport’s infrastructure.”
