Calthorpe Estates chief exec steps down

Birmingham landowner Calthorpe Estates has announced its chief executive Mark Lee is to step down after 11 years at the business.

He will leave after the AGM in July. Calthorpe expects to appoint a successor shortly.

Lee joined the company as chief financial officer in 2008. He was promoted to chief executive in 2012 to lead the property investment and development around the 1,600-acre estate in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

During this time he oversaw the development of the Edgbaston Medical Quarter, the creation of Edgbaston Village, and the regeneration of the Edgbaston Commercial Centre. More recently this included the £330m mixed-use development at New Garden Square.

Lee said: “We have put the Edgbaston Medical Quarter on the map through the transformation of Pebble Mill, and the framework is now in place for rejuvenation of the Commercial Centre around Five Ways. I feel that it is the right time to pass on the baton.”
