CALUS heads down under

CALUS’ latest study tour in its international series turns its attention to the Australian scene, following last year’s relaxation of foreign investment restrictions.

The tour will study a wide variety of retail centres, including multi-storey centres, regional and neighbourhood malls, waterside projects such as the Darling Harbour scheme in Sydney, historic refurbishments like the Queen Victoria Building in the same city and the major leisure and entertainment-based developments along Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Held during Australia’s summer, the tour starts on January 26 and, after a Singapore stopover, will visit Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide, as well as a visit to Auckland, New Zealand. The homeward route will include Hong Kong and the group will return to London on February 14.

Costing £5,960, the tour includes business class travel and first class hotels. Further details from Teresa Kulczyk or Mary Tull, Centre for Advanced Land Use Studies, College of Estate Management, Whiteknights, Reading RG6 2AW (0734861101; fax 0734 755344).
