Calvin Klein has designs on Manchester’s King Street

Calvin Klein is tipped to be signing up for Orbit Development’s scheme at 55 King Street, Manchester.

Both Orbit Developments and letting agent Jones Lang LaSalle refused to comment, but it is believed Orbit is quoting rents of around £1,722 sq m (£160 per sq ft).

Orbit is also believed to be in discussions with retailers Lewin’s and Simpson’s, while Lush is looking at Orbit’s scheme and Frogmore’s Triangle.

Although Diesel is close to signing up for 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft) at the former Toni & Guy unit at 74 King Street, CK is bucking the trend as more tenants are walking away from King Street, fuelling speculation that the traditional retail core is suffering because of rival schemes including Frogmore’s The Triangle, Richardson Development’s Printwork’s and Prudential and Crosby’s Shambles.

Patrick Cox and Racing Green are the latest in a long line of tenants that have decided to move out of King St, while other units on the market include Red or Dead, Body Shop, Country Casuals and Mulberry.
