Camden approves Ted Baker hotel

Reef Estates has been granted planning consent for a major mixed-use scheme near King’s Cross.

The scheme on St Pancras Way, NW1, will provide six new buildings ranging from two to 12 storeys and comprise 73 homes, 585,000 sq ft of offices, and an 87-bedroom Ted Baker-branded hotel.

The site, currently named the “Ugly Brown Building” is home to Ted Baker’s global headquarters. The new scheme will house an extended office campus for the fashion brand, and a boutique hotel with associated bar, restaurant and ancillary space.

Some 65,000 sq ft of underground storage space will be provided in basement levels, plus as 66,000 sq ft of retail space. The housing element will provide 35% affordable housing.

The scheme will be built out in three phases, with Ted Baker temporarily relocating to the first phase of development while its new building is built in phase two.

The plans will also open up the 2.8-acre site with new public open space and pedestrian routes across the site and alongside the Regent’s Canal.
