Camden council is poised to refuse Royal Mail’s plans for a major redevelopment of the Mount Pleasant sorting office, EC1.
Ahead of a committee meeting on 27 February, Camden planners have objected to the proposals for some 1m sq ft of new space at the site.
Plans include 681 homes, shops, offices and restaurants.
Last month, mayor of London Boris Johnson agreed to step in following conflicting decisions between Camden and Islington, which is also considering the plans because the site straddles across both boroughs.
There have been concerns over the lack of affordable housing.
In their report, Camden planners said they objected to the “proposed development in its current form, and request that, if matters raised by officers are unable to be satisfactorily addressed prior to determination by the mayor of London, planning permission be refused”.
