Campus Living Villages plans demolition of Salford towers for PBSA scheme

Campus Living Villages is planning to more than double the capacity one of its Salford developments, providing a total of 1,585 beds.

The student accommodation provider has filed a planning statement to Salford City Council to redevelop the 2.2-acre site.

It currently comprises two 15-storey blocks known as John Lester Court and Eddie Colman Court, providing 744 student beds. The towers were built as residential blocks in the 1960s as part of the first phase of redevelopment within the Ellor Street Development Area, and have since been converted into student housing.

CLV is proposing to demolish the existing buildings and replace them with two purpose-built student accommodation blocks of up to 28 storeys.

The proposals seek to expand the total capacity of the site from 744 student beds to a maximum of 1,585, providing an additional 841 beds.
