Student accommodation provider Campus Living Villages named Lee McLean, Vita Student’s managing director, as its new UK chief executive.
McLean will join the business in September and be based at the business’s UK head office at MediaCity in Salford, Greater Manchester.
He worked at Vita Student for three years and has spent nearly a decade within the student accommodation sector. Previous roles also include senior positions at Unite Students and The Mansion Group.
Campus Living Villages, which has around 45,000 beds within the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the US, said McLean would drive plans for “a number of new developments across the UK”.
McLean said: “There are a lot of exciting new projects in the pipeline that will expand Campus Living Villages UK’s presence in the market.”
Peter Berry, group chief executive at Campus Living Villages, added: “Lee’s operational management skills and background in asset and facilities management make him the perfect candidate to drive the growth of Campus Living Villages UK.
“We look forward to working with Lee on the developments we already have in the pipeline and on new opportunities to bring our student accommodation offer to even more students up and down the country.”
Campus Living Villages
Campus Living Villages launched in the UK in 2008 and has more than 12,500 beds owned, managed or under development in Britain.
It entered into its first agreement with the University of Salford in 2008, followed by the University of Bedfordshire in 2010.
It partnered with the University of Sydney in 2003 to open its first site, Sydney University Village.
Two years later, it expanded into New Zealand and signed its first lease with Massey University. This was followed by the acquisition of the University of Canterbury’s student accommodation and an agreement to develop further housing on the site.
The student accommodation provider then added 20,000 beds in the US to its portfolio in 2006, when it acquired Century Campus Housing.
