Canary Wharf Group makes senior development and people hires

Canary Wharf Group has bolstered its development and people teams with two senior appointments, including the hire of former HS2 director Tom Venner.

Tom Venner

The landlord and developer has appointed Venner as managing director of development. Venner most recently led the Euston Partnership, a collaboration between the public and private sectors, as its managing director. Before that, he was commercial development director at HS2 for three years.

Venner also held various roles at Landsec for a decade, latterly as development director of the REIT’s London portfolio.

CWG has also recruited Michael Pagnotta as director of people engagement. Pagnotta was previously a partner and head of group learning at Knight Frank, where he had key responsibilities for leadership development, equality, diversity and inclusion strategy, culture transformation and employee wellbeing. He is also a leadership and business transformation coach at consultancy the Mindshift Group.

At CWG, Pagnotta will work as part of the people, development and customer experience leadership team. He will focus on driving CWG’s ambition of creating an inclusive, people-led culture that promotes the company’s core values.

Shobi Khan, chief executive of CWG, said: “Both [Venner and Pagnotta] hold the skills to continue to create an extraordinary environment at Canary Wharf.

“Tom’s appointment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to best-in-class sustainable development and Michael’s appointment reinforces our ambition of creating an inclusive culture that focuses on people and promotes CWG’s core values.”
