Capella Group has been given the green light for its £100m Atlantic Square project in Glasgow.
The city council has approved plans for a mixed-use development situated between York Street and James Watt Street in the city’s International Financial Services District.
Nos 1 and 2 Atlantic Square comprise two prime grade A office buildings of 161,000 sq ft and 66,000 sq ft respectively, with No 3 Atlantic Square housing a six-storey, 150-bedroom hotel which will encompass the existing retained building façade on James Watt Street.
In addition, there will be 20,000 sq ft of ground-floor retail and leisure space across all three buildings with the potential for health club and conference facilities to be included.
Plans also include a covered courtyard and upgraded pedestrian access linking the new development physically and visually with the wider Broomielaw district.
Jim Fitzsimons, chief executive of Capella Group, said: “We’re delighted that the Atlantic Square project has been given the go-ahead.
“This development represents a terrific boost for the regeneration of Glasgow’s waterfront area and is a major vote of confidence in the Broomielaw district.
“There have been a number of good lettings in Glasgow this year and as 2010 approaches we now need to see the next round of new development beginning to progress.”
